Luz was born into a lineage of Caribbean Traditional Healers. As an adult, she traveled to the Colombian Amazonia to initiate and continue her training within the Amazonian Traditional system of Healing and Medicine. She now carries the lineage of Taita Salvador Chindoy. Becoming a traditional medic within the Amazonian Tradition is a process that spans years and decades, similar to that of a western doctor. It is a lineage-based tradition where one apprentices under a teacher for years before being able to hold ceremonies themselves. During the apprenticeship, the students' bodies and spirits are cleaned and prepared through an extensive process for the healing work they will eventually do. This process lasts a decades and then continues for life. Luz continues to live, train, and practice her sacred work under the guidance of her elders within the jungle.
